MLI assists war-torn countries in building humanitarian, sustainable and affordable programs to eradicate landmines and alleviate the suffering caused by these instruments of war. MLI utilizes U.S. Government funding and the support of private donors to achieve these goals. MLI is active in 12 severely mine-contaminated countries including Afghanistan, Lebanon, Armenia, Iraq, Yemen, Thailand and others.
MLI’s Survivors’ Assistance program helps people, particularly children, who have been injured by mines by providing prostheses, rehabilitative treatment, vocational training and physicians’ training so doctors can become experts in the field of rehabilitation in their native, mine-affected countries.
